"What a great experience! I haven't been to Shoney's in years and this was my husband's first time ever, and it was wonderful! We were greeted first thing inside the door by a very friendly young man, and our waitress was an absolute gem Everyone that we encountered was super friendly and helpful and the team stocking the buffet was really on their game. The food was fresh and hot and we ate until we couldn't eat anymore thank you for being just as awesome as I remember from all those years ago and giving my husband a great first meal too.We will be back every time we drive through!"

"Super close to the interstate & gasoline! Holiday Inn & Courtyard Marriott within 2 minute walk! Fully stocked salad bar-comfort food-feature of the day and desserts! Wide variety of menu selections and kids menu. Super kind staff & very clean restrooms. Nostalgic & super nifty to support a 60 year old or more concept. Was locally started and still thriving. Adorable gift shop area for tourist and great for gifts! Pies ready for purchase. Some fun games for the kiddos. Only thing missing was some ambiance music. Our server Jessica was attentive and quick. The buffet was replenished often. Close to the Charleston Coliseum for shows and the downtown is within moments. Go support some home style Americana! Loved it!"

"Our waitress Payton was exceptional. Food on the bar was great as usual. We were visiting Charleston to see Christmas lights and this restaurant was close to ball Park and the interstate to go home. The lady attending to the food bar was very nice and had me wait for fresh on two items. You don't always get personal service with a food bar. Everyone we talked with was Friendly and we made sure the manager on duty knew how much we appreciated the restaurant."

"If breakfast had a Hall of Fame, Shoney's would be front and center. The bacon is crisp, the eggs are fluffy (them omlets tho!!), and those French toast sticks!? Heaven's to Betsy dont forget the biscuits n gravy! It could make a grown man tear up. Everything tastes like it was made by someone's Southern grandma who truly cares about your happiness. I would not want to eat breakfast anywhere else...and honestly, I don't know why anyone would! Come hungry, leave happy, and probably need a nap. 10/10 would pile my plate again!"

"Shoney's the way it has always been. Great buffet, good food, and solid desserts. While the building is aging a little bit, quality has not been compromised. The wait staff is excellent and the food is good and inexpensive compared to the other restaurants that have raised their prices. The buffet is well maintained, food is kept hot, filled, and we saw the floor get mopped twice during the hour we were there."

Most Disliked things

Some guests notice the aged decor, which shows signs of wear. This might not appeal to everyone, especially those seeking a more modern dining environment. Busy weekends can lead to longer wait times, which can be inconvenient. Others mention that they miss having music to enhance the ambiance during meals. The restaurant could also work on maintaining clearer signage for the buffet setup at peak times when crowds gather. Not a deal-breaker, but these minor points can influence the overall experience.
